COFFEE

Americas

Costa Rica SHB

Can a coffee be too perfect, too balanced, too clean? That is what is being said about the coffees from Costa Rica. They are prized for their high notes: bright citrus or berry-like flavors in the acidity; and in the best cups they fade into chocolate or spice flavors in the aftertaste.

Panama SHB Estate

Panama coffees have a softer cup, almost a buttercup feel. It is light to medium in body, with a rich aroma and sweet acidity.

Guatemala Fair Trade Organic

The highlands of Guatemala produce one of the world’s finest and most distinctive coffees. Guatemalan coffee is said to be most flavorful, combining complex nuances (smoke, spice, flowers, occasionally chocolate) with acidity ranging from bright to austerely powerful.

Brazil

Brazil is the largest coffee producer in the world. The very finest of Brazils can be nutty, sweet, and smooth. They particularly come into their own in espresso brewing, which puts a premium on mellow sweetness.

Africa

Yemen Mocca

True Arabian Mocca, from the central mountains of Yemen, is still grown and processed as they have been for centuries. It is also an excellent alternative for those who wish a coffee grown without chemicals. Yemen Mocca is as organically grown as it was five hundred years ago. Yemen is acidy but sweet, it is distinctively dry and fruity, and it is satisfyingly rich and full-bodied.

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Fair Trade Organic

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. Today, Ethiopia coffees are among the world’s most varied and distinctive, and ranks among the very finest. It is high-toned and alive with shimmering citrus and flower tones.

Kenya

Of all contemporary coffee origins, Kenya is doubtless the most universally admired. Their research and development is unparalleled and their quality control is meticulous. Kenya is both the most balanced and most complex of coffee origins. A powerful, wine-toned acidity is wrapped in sweet fruit. The body is typically medium in weight and is always clean in the cup.

Uganda Organic Bugisi

The fragrance of this roast has a clean lemon cookie scent, softly fruited and nicely sweet. There’s definitely a little wild note in there as African coffees are known for, something a little woodsy and rustic in the background.

Indonesia

Sumatra Mandheling Fair Trade Organic

Sumatra is one of the great romance coffees of the world. When at its best, the coffee itself suggests intrigue and complexity, its weight is heavy-bodied and smooth, enveloped in an earthy richness.

Sulawesi

Sulawesi coffee is a rich, full-bodied and smooth brew resembling the coffees of Sumatra, but with a more vibrant and cleaner taste.

Java Estate

Java coffees share some of the low-key vibrancy of the best Sumatra and Sulawesi but tend to be lighter, cleaner, and brighter in the cup. At best, they can be astoundingly sweet, fragrant, and alive with nut, spice, and vanilla tones.

Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is a distinct coffee among the Indonesians. They have the cleaner, more delicate and sophisticated cup character. While a lighter body than Javas, good PNG has the delicate notes, complexity, and sometimes the acidity or brightness of the best Central Americans

Flores Organic Bajawa
